Fagin's Hike (Snowshoe) of the Week- Off Hwy 18

This is a close in hike (off of Hwy 18) and you can walk on gated road with great views.after about 3 miles.  First 1.5 to 2 miles is snowfree than solid snow. Thanks to Dennis Long for photos.

Directions: From I-90 east take Hwy 18 exit and turn right (south). Go just under 2 miles and past Raging River  (close to milepost 26) and make a left. There is not a left turn lane so be careful. Easier to come in from Issaquah-Hobart Road to Why 18 then turn right. You park in small pullout area and do not block the yellow gate with the sign "Department of Natural Resources." discover pass is needed.

Trail stats:To view point of Mt Baker go 3.9 miles and about 1800 foot gain. See map for route. While on hike you go about a mile on logging road (gated) then turn right and follow power lines for about another mile. Then veer towards the right go  about mile and views to the north of Mt. Baker, Mt Si and others.
