Weather Washington Cascades - Extended Outlook

The recent pattern of an upper ridge of high pressure over our region on and off over the last several weeks has brought snowpack below normal for all of the Washington locations. Biggest impact has been for the Stevens/ Snoq Pass area with snowpack at 61% of normal

However, this dry pattern should change this Thursday (1-31-2019) as a trough of low pressure moves in from the northwest. In fact many of the extended forecasts bring pattern of troughs ( see map below) dropping down from the northwest into our region over the next 7 to 10 days. Although we will have some dry periods  we should start building the snowpack.
