Fagin's Hike of the Week: Lake Serene

Snowfree hike and great views at the lake. Also side trip to waterfalls. Our hike last week was taken with clouds and light showers. The first photo is the view of Mt. Index from the last and taken several years ago.

Driving Directions: From Monroe that US 2 east towards Stevens Pass. Then just before road crosses the Skykomish River (near milepost 35), and turn right onto Mount Index Road. Proceed on this dirt road 0.4 mile, turning right on the spur road signed Lake Serene Trail 1068.

Trail Stats: To the lake 7.2 miles roundtrip and 2000 foot gain. To waterfalls an extra 1 mile roundtrip
