Fagin's Hike (Snowshoe-Ski) of the Week: Mount Margaret

Great trip for snowshoes and experienced skiers. Terrific views above the treeline of Mt. Rainier and other peaks to the south and west.

Please check avalanche  conditions above treeline.

View of Mt. Rainier once above treeline
From ridge at 5200' view northeast to Mt. Stuart
View towards the west
Driving Directions:

From Seattle take I-90
Get off at  Exit 54 and turn left to cross under freeway.
Turn right (this road parallels I-90.)
Go about one mile to the end and park at gated section.
This is a Sno-Park during the winter and early spring.
Road un-gated later in the spring. Trip starts on FR 4832.

Trail stats: Here is our track.
It says 6.4 miles, but other reports have it closer to 8 miles. We snowshoed up through the forest and did not take the road that much, so that is probably why our mileage was so low. We gained about 2800' and went to ridge at 5200'.
