Driving directions: From Seattle, drive east on Interstate 90 to exit 101 for Thorp. Turn right onto South Thorp Highway and continue 2 miles. Then turn right (south) onto Cove Road and drive 6 miles. At the second stop sign, continue straight, crossing Manastash Road. In 0.2 mile, find the large parking area on the right side of the soon-to-dead-end road. This is on Kittitas Reclamation District no hiking permit needed.

Trail stats: 1700 foot gain and just 4.2 miles  roundtrip. About 0.3 miles into the hike there is a fork and you can take left or right - they both go up to same spot. I took the right fork. Here is the track. Also note on the way down, about 400 feet from the top, is the Scout trail (not marked) that goes through a pine forest and takes you back to the trailhead, however I did not take this but just received information. This trail is just west of the trail we went up.
