Fagin's Hike of the Week- Ebey's Landing

The photos are from last year, however current trip reports say trail is still good. This hike is on Whidbey Island and the directions here are a different way to Ebey's Landing which offers great views of  the Sound and of the Olympic Mountains from the bluff. We start the hike just outside of the town of Coupeville  at the Prairie Overlook trail head (across from the cemetery). This hike goes past historic houses and farmland and then you are on the bluff with great views. There is some private property near the hike so please respect that.

Trail: This is a good map to use.  Start on Ebby's Parire Trail and hike about one mile southwest and  you come to the bluff  and a fork. You  can right up the bluff with better views and if you continue you can reach the beach and loop back which is about 5.5 miles. Or at the fork you can turn left and go down to the beach. Another option is to stop at the bluff and go back to trail head and it is  only 2 miles round trip.

Direction:  From Mukilteo, take the ferry over to Clinton.
Head north on SR-525 for 19 miles to a junction with SR-20.
Continue straight on for approx. 5 miles to the town of Coupeville, and continue north on SR-20 for approx. 1 mile.
Turn left onto Sherman Road and continue until you reach Cook Road.
Turn right and drive to the end of Cook Road to the Prairie Overlook trail head, located directly across from a cemetery.
