Fagin's Hike of the Week- Thorp Lookout

This hike offers great views and is located in the Salmon La Sac region, east of Snoq Pass.  Just did hike on October 9, 2019 and there was 5 inches of snow near top. With melting and freezing of snow there will be some ice so micro-spikes suggested. Should do soon before heavy snows come.

Driving directions: From Seattle drive east on I-90 to take exit 80 (signed "Roslyn/Salmon La Sac"). Head north on Salmon La Sac Road (State Route 903) about 15 miles, passing through Roslyn and past Cle Elum Lake. Just past the upper end of the lake, turn left onto French Cabin Road (Forest Road 4308). Drive 3.25 miles on FR 4308 then turn right onto FR 4312 . Go 1.5 miles on FR 4312 to a gated road on the right and park here (don't block the gate). Walk about on road and cross stream and  1/8 of a mile on road, then see sign for Thorp and turn left. Walk another about 1/8 of a mile and hard to see sign is on the left. Easy to miss (see photo) and this is trail  1316 The last part of hike is on trail 1315.2. You can take side trip to the Lake and that only adds 0.50 miles roundtrip
Stats: 7 miles roundtrip and 2300 foot gain. Here is our track
