This is all snowfree and you hike on an old railroad bed that is now a trail and past old snowsheds, tunnels and waterfalls. Oh, yes nice views. There are several approaches to this hike off of Highway 2 and we went via the Martin Creek Trail. Thanks to Alan Bauer for many of the photos.

Driving Directions: Take Hwy 2 toward Stevens Pass, to milepost 55. Turn left onto the Old
Cascade Highway. At the junction with FR 6710, take a left onto FR
6710. In l.4 miles reach the trailhead Marten Creek.
Trail Stats: Start trail on boardwalk and you go perhaps 1/8 of a mile and then turn left to upper trail. Hike east to Windy Point a great lunch spot with views. Then you can continue on about another 2.6 miles through and through a tunnel and to the old Wellington site. If you go to this location than it's about 6.5 miles one way. Of course one can go much shorter and still get great views.
