Fagin's Hike of the Week: Heybrook Lookout

This is always a good fall hike that is snowfree and done with nearby Bridal Veil Falls is a great combo. These photos are from a hike last year but recent reports show trails still open and snowfree.
Both trails are off  Highway 2 and west of Stevens Pass

Driving Directions: From Everett follow US 2 east for 37 miles (approximately 2 miles east of the steel bridge crossing the Skykomish River) to the trailhead (elev. 850 ft), located on the north side of the highway.
Trail stats: 2.6 miles roundtrip 850 feet gain

Driving directions. From Heybrook lookout go on Highway 2 and go about 2 miles west and turn left on Mount Index Road and go about 0.40 miles to trail.
Trail stats: 4.4 miles roundtrip about 1000 foot gain
