Fagin's Hike of the Week: Tonga Ridge / Mount Sawyer

Hike off of Hwy 2 near Skykomish  with great views of Mt. Rainer, Baker, Glacier Peak, Daniel and more. Hike is snowfree and the wildflowers at peak now.

Driving Directions: From Seattle drive US 2 east just past Skykomish and turn right onto Foss River Road (Forest Road 68). Continue for 3.6 miles and then turn left onto FR 6830. Go 6.9 miles and bear right onto FR Spur 310, and after 1.4 miles reach the trailhead.

Trail Stats: Hike about 2 to 2.25 miles and go to unmarked trail on your left. This goes up to the top. Total miles is 3 one way and 1200 foot gain to 5500 foot level. We added just less than a mile to hike to southeast to Sawyer Pass which is a nice meadow. Here is the track
