Fagin's Hike of the Week- Oyster Dome

Updated April 8, 2016

Great hike with great views of the Olympics, San Juan Islands and more. This is a popular area so might you want to get an early start. We did a loop hike first directly to Oyster Dome and on the way back went to Lily Lake and then to Samish Overlook. This involves some additional miles but Lily Lake area had very few hikers there.

Driving directions: From Seattle drive I-5 north , take the Chuckanut Drive exit off of I-5 (exit 231). Drive north just past the 10 mile post on Chuckanut Drive (SR 11) and park on the paved, wide place on the west shoulder. Be very-very careful on parking on the shoulder and if your car's tire is over the "fog line" you will be towed.   One can park at the Samish Overlook

Trail stats: The Pacific Northwest Trailhead is on the east side of the highway. 2000 foot gain and 6.5 miles roundtrip. If you do the loop via Lily Lake and Samish Overlook roundtrip is about 9.5 miles.
