Just did this hike yesterday and it was snowfree. We might get some light snow this weekend at the top so go as far as you feel comfortable. Of if Defiance is too many miles for you , just stop at Mason Lake and that makes a wonderful hike. Thanks to Alan Bauer for the photos.

Driving Directions: From I-90 and going east take Exit 45 (Forest Road 9030.) . At a fork 0.8 miles from I-90 take the left branch onto Road 9031. . At 3.8 miles from I-90, reach the large parking area for the Ira Spring Trail (#1038.) .
Trail Stats: 11 miles roundtrip and about 3600 gain.
