Fagin's Hike of the Week- Wallace Lake

This hike is off Hwy 2 in small town of Gold Bar and at Wallace Falls State Park. Most people hike to the waterfalls which given the near record rains from this winter and is certainly worth a short side visit. Our destination is a snowfree hike to this  peaceful lake .

Trail Stats: 8.2 miles roundtrip and 1500 feet gain. Start on the main trail and then soon come to old railroad grade and turn left onto this. Go just over 2 miles and you will come to a toilet, nice place to take a break. Turn left on Greg Ball Trail and good a little over a mile and you come to a logging road and turn right. Go short distance and you will find a gravel service road to your left and take that and walk 0.50 mile to the lake.

Driving Directions: From Everett, follow Hwy 2 for 28 miles east to Gold Bar and  turn left onto 1st Street,  signed for Wallace Falls State Park. Proceed for 0.4 mile to a four way stop then right onto May Creek Road and continue for 1.5 miles to Wallace Falls State Park which you need a Discover Pass.
